Utility Worker – Manufacturing
Location: Colonial Heights, VA
Pay: $20.25 per hour
Schedule: Rotating shifts – the shift changes each week
Overtime: Available based on production needs
Weekend Work: Some weekends required
We are hiring Utility Workers for a manufacturing facility in Colonial Heights. This is a hands-on position working around production equipment in a climate-controlled warehouse.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, comfortable working with machinery, and has good mechanical aptitude. Manufacturing, warehouse, forklift, or machine operating experience is helpful, but we are willing to consider someone who has the right mechanical ability and is willing to learn.
Schedule
The shift will rotate each week, so candidates must be available to work all three shifts:
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Some weekends are part of the regular schedule, and overtime may be available when production needs require it.
Job Duties
- Operate and monitor automatic balers, rewinders, slitters, and other production equipment
- Start, stop, and make basic adjustments to equipment
- Watch equipment during production and report problems or unusual operation
- Perform basic equipment checks
- Assist with moving and handling materials as needed
- Follow production and quality procedures
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Follow all safety rules and OSHA requirements
- Work with other employees to keep production moving and meet daily goals
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how machinery works
- Manufacturing, production, warehouse, or machine operating experience is a plus
- Forklift experience or certification is a plus
- Comfortable working around machinery
- Able to recognize and report equipment or mechanical issues
- Reliable and dependable with good attendance
- Able to work all three rotating shifts
- Available to work some weekends and overtime when needed
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive work
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
- Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required and provided by the employee
