Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our manufacturing team in Richmond, VA. This Industrial Maintenance position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, repairing production machinery, and maintaining facility equipment to maximize uptime and production efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and repairs on industrial production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair large industrial washers, dryers, feeders, folders, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Maintain facility systems including boilers, compressors, heat exchangers, lighting, and other building equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and electronic systems.
- Troubleshoot and replace control components including switches, proximity sensors, photo eyes, push buttons, contactors, relays, and motor starters.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on 3-phase 240V/480V systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize equipment downtime.
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair documentation.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Pick up and transport parts as needed.
- Work closely with production and operations teams to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Industrial Maintenance or Maintenance Mechanic experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical repair
- Electrical maintenance
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Plumbing
- Industrial equipment maintenance
- Experience troubleshooting 3-phase 240V/480V electrical systems preferred.
- PLC troubleshooting and programming experience preferred.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Valid driver's license required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Trade license or technical certification preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Must be available to work a rotating shift schedule.
- Some weekends are required based on production and operational needs.
- Overtime and holiday work may be required as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, and reach.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Climb ladders exceeding 20 feet.
- Work safely around industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
Work Environment
This Maintenance Mechanic position is based in a fast-paced manufacturing facility with exposure to large industrial equipment, moving machinery, varying temperatures, humidity, dust, lint, and noise. The work environment is not climate controlled, and employees must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors while following all safety procedures.
