This role focuses on establishing strong data interfaces and interconnectivity of our integrated JOMIS product ecosystem. The data architect will help to build a strong data foundations that supports operational medicine, reporting, analytics, and future AI capabilities.The Data Architect works closely with product teams, engineers, program leadership, and cybersecurity partners to ensure data is accurate, traceable, secure, and usable across systems. This role helps define how data moves through the JOMIS environment and ensures teams are aligned on standards and expectations.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Define and maintain JOMIS data architecture standards, including data domains, naming conventions, and logical data modelsDocument end-to-end data flows, including sources, transformations, storage, and downstream useDesign and guide data integration approaches that support operational medicine workflows and reporting needsEstablish and maintain data governance practices focused on quality, consistency, and traceabilityEnsure proper handling of sensitive data, including PHI and PII, in coordination with cybersecurity and compliance teamsDefine data structures and mappings that support interoperability across JOMIS systems and external partnersSupport analytics and reporting use cases by ensuring data is structured, complete, and reliableEnable future advanced analytics and AI use cases by improving data readiness and availabilityCreate and maintain architecture artifacts such as data flow diagrams, logical data models, and dependency mapsPartner with product owners, engineers, and other vendor partners to translate operational needs into clear data requirementsCapture and track data integration efforts in Jira across as identified across multiple productsBrief program leadership on data risks, gaps, and overall readiness as JOMIS capabilities evolveBASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data environmentsStrong understanding of data modeling, data integration, and data governance principlesExperience working with complex systems in regulated or federal environmentsFamiliarity with managing sensitive data, including privacy controls, access restrictions, and audit requirementsAbility to clearly document technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience working in Agile or iterative delivery environmentsU.S. Citizenship requiredActive Secret clearance preferred, or ability to obtain oneOperational Medicine or healthcare data expertise preferred, but not requiredKEY COMPETENCIES: Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail Ability to connect mission needs to practical data design decisions Comfortable working across multiple teams and vendors Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while coordinating with a broader architecture team Strong organization and time management skills Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Professional judgment when handling sensitive informationCollaborative mindset and strong stakeholder engagement skillsPreferred Certifications (Not Required): Cloud platform certifications such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with an emphasis on data services Data or analytics certifications related to data engineering, data architecture, or data governance Enterprise or solution architecture certifications Agile or delivery certifications such as Scrum, SAFe, or Agile Project Management
