Appointment: Full-Time, Career

Salary: $71,600 - $85,400/annual Full Benefits

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Disability Manager, the Workers’ Compensation Analyst supports UC Santa Cruz’s workers’ compensation and occupational disability programs. This role focuses on case coordination, claims analysis, and injury prevention to help maintain a safe workplace and facilitate successful return-to-work outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Coordination: Manage assigned segments of the workers' compensation program, including claim documentation, reporting, and electronic file maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Partner with medical providers, campus departments, and third-party administrators (TPAs) to support timely case management.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze claims data to identify trends and recommend risk-mitigation strategies to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Program Support: Assist with injury prevention initiatives, targeted safety training, policy development, and program evaluations for Risk Services leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in workers’ compensation claims management (TPA, insurer, or large employer environment preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of occupational disability management and return-to-work processes.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and claims management systems.

Preferred

  • Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM) or related coursework.
  • Completion of The Institutes' WCCA 300 course or related coursework.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
