Responsibilities

Workato is seeking a VP of Engineering, Developer Products & Platforms to lead the engineering organization responsible for our developer platform and tooling experience. This leader will design, build and operate our developer products and Otto superagent. The role will partner closely with Design, Marketing, and AI Research teams to deliver world-class experiences that enable customers and partners to build, extend, and innovate on the Workato platform.

Based onsite in San Francisco, you will lead a high-performing team focused on developer tooling, platform extensibility, ecosystem integrations, and developer adoption. You will combine deep technical expertise, strong product instincts, and operational excellence to help shape the future of developer experiences at Workato.

In This Role, You Will Also Be Responsible To

  • Lead and scale the engineering organization responsible for Workato's developer platform, including developer tools, SDKs, IDE extensions, APIs, and platform services.
  • Partner with Product Management and executive leadership to shape platform strategy, define engineering priorities, and execute against company objectives.
  • Collaborate with Workato's AI researchers to ideate, prototype, validate, and ship AI developer-facing tools.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization, including engineering managers and senior individual contributors.
  • Drive delivery of developer-facing products, including the Workato CLI, VS Code Extension, language SDKs, and related platform capabilities.
  • Ensure seamless integration with leading developer frameworks, orchestration platforms, and emerging AI ecosystems.
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Marketing, Developer Relations, and AI Research teams to bring new platform capabilities to market.
  • Influence product direction and investment decisions through a deep understanding of developer needs, market trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Establish engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, security, observability, and developer experience.
  • Define and monitor engineering, product adoption, and platform health metrics to guide investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Champion developer ergonomics, documentation quality, platform usability, and community engagement.
  • Serve as a key executive voice representing the needs of developers across the company.

Requirements

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

  • 10 years of software engineering experience, including 5 years leading product-focused engineering organizations and engineering leaders.
  • Proven track record building and scaling developer platforms, developer tools, APIs, SDKs, or infrastructure products.
  • Strong technical depth in modern developer ecosystems, API design, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and software development workflows.
  • Experience building products for technical audiences with a strong focus on developer experience and usability.
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of modern AI developer tooling, agent frameworks, LLM application architectures, and developer workflows.
  • Demonstrated success partnering closely with Product Management, Research, Sales, Marketing, and Design to deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Experience using telemetry, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making to improve product adoption and platform performance.
