The core of this role is contribution—to the spec, to open source tooling, and to the community. What You Bring?You provide deep expertise and sustained engagement within the ecosystem you're already part of. This is not a typical product engineering role where open source is a side benefit; the primary job is ecosystem contribution:Thinking deeply about the end user as much as you consider what makes a great developer experienceContributions to the MCP specification and reference implementationsBuilding and maintaining open-source MCP servers and toolingParticipating actively in community discussions, helping others solve problems, and sharing what you learnAn Ability and Eagerness to represent Workato as a constructive, technically credible voice in the MCP communityWhat Workato Offers?Workato has made MCP central to our platform strategy. These are problems the community needs solved, and we're in a position to contribute those solutions upstream.Required Skills: 5–7 years of professional software development experience with a proven track record of shipping high-quality productsActive, visible contributor to the MCP ecosystemStrong software engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, with comfort across multiple languagesExisting relationships within the MCP communityProven track record of publicly writing, discussing, reviewing, and helpingExperience shipping products, creating kits, understanding developer tools, and/or managing teamsPreferred Strengths:Contributions to the MCP spec or official repositoriesExperience with enterprise integration challengesTrack record of sustained open source contributionAdaptable, proactive, and creative—comfortable working in a dynamic, startup-like environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.What Does Ownership Look Like?Your primary focus is ecosystem work, but your efforts will inevitably guide how Workato evolves its own MCP capabilities:Advise on architecture for exposing Workato connectors as MCP serversHelp shape our developer experience for MCPIdentify where Workato can contribute infrastructure or tooling that the domain needsServe as an active, visible contributor to the MCP ecosystem, maintaining strong relationships in the MCP community, while building new bridges.
Salary : $140,000 - $200,000
