HVAC Controls Sales Engineer Location:Pittsburgh, PA Position Overview Are you an outgoing, self-motivated technical sales professional looking to expand your career with an industry-leading team? We are seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Sales Engineer to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this outside sales role, you will develop new and existing accounts across commercial and industrial markets. You will partner with building owners, facility managers, and industrial clients to survey facilities, design controls scopes of work, and present consultative sales proposals for building automation and control system upgrades. Responsibilities and Expectations Meet with existing clients across our commercial maintenance base to review potential controls projects while aggressively developing new commercial and industrial accounts. Perform thorough site surveys to assess existing facility management systems, define detailed scopes of work, and prepare accurate engineering cost estimates. Present tailored, consultative sales proposals directly to building owners and facility executives, effectively aligning solutions with the customer's operational needs and financial criteria. Clearly communicate the financial impact of proposed automation upgrades, including energy savings, payback periods, ROI, cash flow impact, and leasing vs. purchasing options. Document all customer activity, opportunity pipelines, and project specifications in Salesforce to ensure seamless account management and team alignment. Develop and execute strategic sales action plans to consistently meet company revenue and gross profit dollar goals. Requirements 5 years of successful technical outside sales experience in the electronic, building automation, or industrial controls industry. Deep working knowledge of HVAC control systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), facility management systems, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques. Vocational school 4-year program, Associate degree in mechanical systems, computer technology, HVAC, or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on trade and sales experience). Hands-on experience using Salesforce (or similar CRM platforms) to manage customer pipelines and documentation. Exceptional verbal, written, and formal presentation skills; proven ability to translate complex technical control concepts for both technical and non-technical decision-makers. Strong understanding of technical sales economics, financial pain points, and customer buying motives. Valid driver’s license for local site visits and willingness to undergo standard pre-employment background checks and drug testing.
