Truck Checker

Work Now Staffing is looking to hire Truck Checkers for our York, PA client.

Pay: $19.50 per hour

Shifts: 2nd Shift - 1:00pm - 9:30pm, Monday - Friday, must be able to work weekends if needed. Start time will change after training, must be flexible on start/end times

Job Description:

The Truck Checker is responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure flow of trucks entering and exiting the facility. This role involves verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining proper documentation, coordinating with drivers and warehouse personnel, and keeping records organized

Key Responsibilities:

• Check trucks arriving at and departing from the facility: verify vehicle identity, condition, and manifest/shipper documentation
• Accurately record all required details: time, truck number, cargo type and quantity, and driver information
• Maintain and file documentation (paper or electronic) for all truck check-ins and outs, including manifests, bills of lading, delivery/receipt tickets, and inspection logs
• Coordinate with drivers, dock staff, warehouse/yard personnel, and dispatch as needed to ensure truck flow is efficient and documentation is complete
• Report any issues (e.g., missing paperwork, damage, discrepancy in counts) to the Logistics Supervisor or Dock Manager and help remedy where possible
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies while trucks are in the yard or dock area (e.g., safe truck movements, loading/unloading zones, driver-check procedures)
• Support the general maintenance of the dock/truck yard area: keep documents organized, filing systems up to date, assist with basic housekeeping of the documentation area and truck check zone
• Possibly assist with other logistical tasks as assigned (e.g., staging trucks, tagging loads, entering data into warehouse management systems) depending on company needs

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when verifying shipments and documentation
• Good organizational skills and ability to maintain orderly files and records
• Basic computer literacy (working with spreadsheets, logging data, using handheld scanners or similar equipment)
• Ability to communicate clearly with drivers and internal teams; a team-player attitude
• Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics/warehouse environment, sometimes outdoors or in dock/yard settings

Preferred:

• Prior experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse operations, or truck check/yard operations
• Familiarity with shipping documentation (bill of lading, manifest, delivery ticket) and truck yard processes
• Experience using inventory tracking systems or warehouse management software

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Work typically performed in a warehouse yard, dock, or outdoor truck-entry area. May involve exposure to variable weather conditions
• May require walking, and standing
• Use of personal protective equipment is required (e.g., safety vests)
• Shift may include early morning, late evening, or weekends depending on truck arrival/departure schedules
• Must be able to handle the demands of a logistics environment – managing multiple tasks, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring timely documentation
