Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Build trusting relationships with individuals and their families, focusing on personal growth and empowerment.
  2. Help individuals set and achieve goals in areas such as independent living, executive functioning, workplace skills, health management, budgeting, social skills, community safety, self-advocacy, coping, and accessing resources.
  3. Provide direct support through ongoing sessions using creative, evidence-based strategies like collaborative problem-solving, modeling, technology, and visual aids.
  4. Lead and organize therapeutic groups and social activities tailored to client interests and needs.
  5. Conduct skills assessments, track progress, and maintain accurate documentation as required by DDS.
  6. Collaborate regularly with the Director and VP of Autism Services, actively participating in team meetings and case reviews.
  7. Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, residences, and other providers to ensure comprehensive support.
  8. Advocate for individuals, recommending additional services when needed.
  9. Support colleagues by assisting with group sessions, joint activities, and coverage as needed.
  10. Attend all team meetings and weekly supervision to foster professional growth and teamwork.
  11. Complete additional duties assigned to support the department’s mission.
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Abilities

  1. Demonstrates a strong background and knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders
  2. Foundational knowledge of other mental health disorders
  3. Strong communication skills with the ability to have positive social interactions with individuals who may be challenging to engage
  4. Ability to be creative and utilize unique strategies to help motivate and encourage individuals
  5. Knowledge of local community resources, and ability to further research services and activities an individual may be interested in
  6. Ability to work with a wide range of individuals, families, and other service providers
  7. Ability to make and commit to appointments/sessions with individuals
  8. Ability to complete! initial assessment of individual and conduct routine progress-measuring tools
  9. Patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor

 

Education and Experience

  1. One-two years’ experience working with individuals with ASD
  2. Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline including Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Human Services preferred
  3. Previous experience in mentoring or coaching preferred
  4. Valid driver’s license required with acceptable driving record and access to a reliable vehicle
  5. Must be able to pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks

Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to pass Safety Care training
  2. Must be able to pass First Aid/CPR Training
  3. Prolonged periods of walking.
  4. Prolonged periods sitting in or driving a vehicle.
  5. Must be able to quickly enter and exit vehicles and/or buildings.
  6. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.

 

Mathematical Skills

  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  2. Ability to enter data into HRIS system, MAP system, Salesforce and other software platforms
  3. Ability to use and understand company technology platforms

 

Communication Demands

  1. The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
  2. Good interpersonal skills with polite and courteous demeanor toward staff, customers, clients, and visitors to the property.
  3. The ability to effectively present information to program participants and members of the community.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate with families/guardians and funding agencies and ancillary services.
  5. Provide and receive feedback.
  6. The ability for an individual to accurately convey a message to another person or group of people.
  7. The ability to articulate thoughts clearly and confidently is crucial.
  8. When engaging in conversations or presentations, it is essential to maintain a professional tone and language.
  9. Ability to answer phone calls and return missed phone calls in a timely manner
  10. Ability to respond to emails in a timely manner

 

Environmental Demands

The work is performed in a non-smoking environment.  The work is normally performed in a temperature-controlled zone, however, there are exceptions.  Exposure to noise, co-worker activity, lightning, interruption, and shared bathrooms.

Salary : $23 - $24
