Job Summary

The Logistics Engineer supports the development, evaluation, and optimization of transportation and logistics solutions across the organization. This position works closely with Sales, Operations, and Pricing to design cost-effective, efficient, and compliant logistics solutions that meet customer needs while maximizing profitability. The role is responsible for analyzing shipping data, developing resource models, and validating ongoing operations against original solution designs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes raw customer shipping data, transforming it into actionable insights to support solution design.
• Utilizes Appian and other routing/optimization software to model transportation networks, considering DOT Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
• Develops detailed resource plans outlining the number of drivers, trucks, and trailers required, along with weekly utilization schedules and performance metrics.
• Collaborates with Sales and Pricing teams to build accurate cost models, forecasts, and rate proposals aligned with customer expectations and company objectives.
• Participates in customer meetings and presentations, explaining proposed logistics solutions and supporting business development efforts.
• Reviews existing contracts and operational designs to ensure performance aligns with intended solution parameters and profitability goals.
• Identifies and recommends process improvements, cost-reduction opportunities, and performance optimization strategies within logistics operations.
• Develops and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) and internal tools to track, measure, and report logistics performance.
• Conducts logistics studies, analyzes trends, and provides recommendations to improve routing, asset utilization, and delivery efficiency.
• Prepares detailed documentation, reports, and analyses to support solution design, implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Partners with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Recruiting) to ensure all data inputs and assumptions are accurate for solution pricing and execution.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation or logistics industry with a strong understanding of DOT Hours of Service regulations.
• Experience with logistics modeling, routing optimization, or network design preferred.
• Familiarity with Appian, Direct Route, Resource Pro, or similar logistics software preferred.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building skills and customer service orientation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
