What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tractor Operator position at Worden Farm?
Worden Farm is a 125-acre farm in Punta Gorda, Florida, using sustainable agriculture practices to produce top-quality certified-organic specialty crops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate tractors, spreaders, tillers, and other farming equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with field prep, planting, fertilizing, cultivation, irrigation, harvest, packing, and other agricultural tasks
- Perform basic maintenance such as oil changes, greasing, and minor repairs
- Set up, maintain, and repair irrigation components, including mainlines, drip lines, pipe, valves, pumps, and filters
- Operate irrigation pumps and manage watering schedules
- Keep tools and supplies clean and organized
- Follow all safety protocols and directions
Qualifications:
- Experience running farm machinery, irrigation, or similar equipment is preferred
- Good work ethic, dependable, follows directions, and works well with others
- Valid driver’s license required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred for team communication
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outside in all weather conditions
Schedule: Hours generally are 40 hours per week; may vary seasonally.
