Farm/Diesel Mechanic

Worden Farm is a 125-acre farm in Punta Gorda, Florida, using sustainable agriculture practices to produce top-quality certified-organic specialty crops.

We are looking for a dependable Farm Mechanic to keep our equipment running safely and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:

• Keep tractors, implements, trucks, UTVs, forklifts, irrigation pumps, and packing equipment running safely and reliably
• Perform routine services (oil, filters, fluids, belts, brakes) and track hours and service logs
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, PTO/drivetrain, cooling, steering, and brakes
• Troubleshoot basic 12V electrical, including batteries, starters, alternators, lights, and fuses
• Service hydraulics, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and valves; find and fix leaks
• Support irrigation equipment: prime and maintain pumps, check flow and pressure, repair PVC and fittings
• Weld and fabricate guards, brackets, and repairs
• Provide field service as needed: assess repair vs tow and recover equipment safely
• Operate forklifts and other equipment to move pallets, supplies, and equipment, and to load and unload trucks
• Help with the pack as needed: stage pallets and materials, pitch in with the packing crew on busy days, and keep packing equipment running
• Keep the shop clean and organized; manage parts, fluids, and critical spares
• Follow and reinforce safety protocols and directions

Qualifications:

• 2 years as an ag, heavy equipment, or fleet mechanic, or strong equivalent hands-on experience
• Working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and 12V electrical; able to read manuals and use test tools (multimeter, pressure/vacuum gauges)
• Able to operate a forklift safely; prior forklift experience preferred
• Team player willing to step out of the shop and help the packing crew when needed
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred for team communication
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work outside in all weather conditions

Schedule: Full-time, year-round; hours generally are 40 hours per week. Early mornings and some weekend work may be required depending on mechanical needs and the packing schedule.
