Custodian Part Time

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Word of Peace Lutheran Church is looking for a reliable individual to join our team as a part-time custodian. Our custodial roles are responsible for the cleanliness of the church facility, Kids of Peace Preschool, and grounds, ensuring that it is always presentable.

Custodian responsibility overview:

This person is an independent worker who is self-driven to perform their duties and takes pride in their craftsmanship which includes the following:

Tasks & Responsibilities

· Clean and maintain facility including but not limited to: dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, washing glass and windows, emptying trash, mopping, general pick-up and arrangement of furniture

· Clean restrooms and resupply items such as paper towels, hand soap and toilet paper

· Empty trash and recycling containers

· Clean and polish building fixtures regularly

· Handle industrial cleaning tasks in high-traffic or specialized areas to ensure hygiene standards are met

· Minor repairs and general facility upkeep

· Report any major building repairs or maintenance needs immediately to the Director of Administration

· Support facilities maintenance by reporting repair needs and assisting with light maintenance tasks like painting or fixture adjustments

· Weekly yard and parking lot trash pick-up

· Set up/take down for meetings during the week

· Additional duties and responsibilities within the scope of work as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED

· Prior cleaning experience helpful

· Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and products

· Ability and mechanical understanding of the following machines, tools, and other special equipment used to perform job duties: ladder, vacuum, cleaning and polishing chemicals, small hand tools, shovel, mops, brooms, back-pack vacuum, mop buckets (additional tools not listed may be used).

· Energetic and take pride in keeping the church clean.

· Physically capable of carrying out the required responsibilities and demands.

· Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

· Communicates effectively with staff and visitors.

· Understands and maintains confidential information as it pertains to members and visitors.

· Supports the mission and vision of Word of Peace Lutheran Church.

Physical Activity Required to Perform Job

· 100% physical activity of different levels throughout the shift

· Climbing ladders – Frequently

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

· Ability to push or pull up to 50 pounds

· Reach above, below and/or at shoulder level – frequently

· Employee works: inside 95%; outside 5%

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

• High school or equivalent (Required)
