What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Business Underwriting Coordinator I (3845) position at Word & Brown Companies?
Purpose of Position:
The New Business Underwriting Coordinator is responsible for data entry and quality control of new business cases. Ensuring minimum submission requirements are met and working closely with New Business Underwriters to support any business needs.
Essential
Functions:
Uphold company policies and procedures as they apply to Choice Administrators programs.
Verifying minimum submission requirements are met.
Complete data entry of new case submissions received via email, API and/or online enrollment into the system.
Log case progress in the Data Entry Turnaround Tool located in the department’s SharePoint site.
Create folders in virtual drive and add case documents.
Create case folders in iManage.
Quality Control all new cases after approval.
Maintain an average Data Entry Error Ratio of 3% or less.
Perform follow up tasks to obtain missing information as needed via telephone and/or email.
Adhere to all H.I.P.A.A. guidelines.
Assist with departmental training needs as assigned by leadership team.
Perform UAT testing on new programming as needed.
Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned.
Assist with updating Instruction Files as assigned.
Complete all monthly department reports by the deadline.
Complete back up duties as needed.
Remote and/or On-Site and/or remote regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
Performs other business tasks or functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially under pressure.
Ability to handle irate customers in a courteous, patient, calm and positive manner while maintaining a high quality of work.
Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are a priority and handling multiple assignments simultaneously is the norm.
Must be able to understand and follow directions.
Must be a team-player and participate in a close team-oriented environment.
Must be able to schedule time to complete miscellaneous projects as assigned.
Must be able to test new programming as needed.
Must be able to pay attention to detail.
Must possess a basic understanding of and ability to follow New Business Underwriting procedures and protocols.
Must have a willingness to ask questions and seek clarification.
Must be open to learning and personal growth.
Must have an average typing speed of 45WPM.
Must maintain a QC score of .003% or better.
Must enter 90-100% of the monthly average of members and cases.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and occasional standing and walking. Must have adequate hearing for phone work. Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Must be able to use a keyboard and other office equipment. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
