Job Title: Director of Development

SUMMARY
The Director of Development is responsible for all aspects of development and fundraising including the annual fund, planned giving, capital campaigns, project management, and fundraising events. This individual will cultivate major donors, oversee the donor databases, create development-related publications, and will work closely with the Development Coordinator and the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees. In addition to fundraising, the Director of Development will work to strengthen donor relations and implement the school’s strategic plan.
Duties:
· Facilitate events both during and outside of normal school hours to include after school and weekends. This includes, coordinating volunteers, booking and coordinating vendors, securing donations with the majority of the events being held on campus.
· Negotiate venue contracts and book event space for all events.
· Design, implement, manage, and continually evaluate all fundraising activities including annual giving, planned giving, endowment and capital campaigns, alumni giving, special projects, and other school-related solicitations.
· Manage all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
· Work with the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Head of School to develop strategies which initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals.
· Responsible for all Development reports to the Board.
· Supervise donor and gift record-keeping including oversight of databases, files, and gift processing.
· Coordinate research activities and manage pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.
· Responsible for Scholarship management.
· Organize and support the alumni association and oversee the organization of alumni events.
· Prepare and oversee the publication of annual reports.
· Manage and update development content on the WPS website and parent portal.
· Work closely with the Head of School, alumni association president, Grandparent association president and Public Relations Office to develop public relations materials/brochures which support annual giving, planned giving, alumni giving programs, and donor recognition, as well as publications for events (i.e. programs, brochures, advertisements, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in professional fundraising, preferably in an independent school environment.
- Knowledge of event planning, public relations and marketing principles and practices.
- Excellent computer application skills and ability to maintain fundraising database.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task projects with equal priority
- Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate work.
- Ability to respond to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion, tact, and confidentiality.
- Excellent written and oral communications.
- Analytical skills and aptitude for problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and the ability to direct and manage others.
