Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to support safe treatment planning, especially for pediatric and medically compromised patients.
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort during procedures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to ensure understanding.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records with precision.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a busy dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, infection control standards, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to oral health.
- Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or similar medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Skilled in taking X-rays, operating 3D scanners, and performing medical imaging techniques safely and accurately.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience assisting in pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable; certification in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support endodontic or prosthodontic procedures confidently.
