Service Technician for Heavy Machinery

Purpose of Position:

To maintain, and repair Street Sweepers, Boom Mowers, Medium Duty Vehicles. Responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines and mechanical systems. Experience Needed:

• Mechanical experience required
• Hydraulic experience required
• Welding experience required
• Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic Hand Tools Required
• Pass physical exam, background investigation, and drug screening
• No federal convictions
• Physical strength and stamina, and must be able to lift 50lb
• Operate a fork lift

Characteristics/Skills:

• Knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
• Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
• Strong communication (Verbal and written)
• Critical thinking/Problem-solving ability
• Can do attitude/Self-motivated
• Time-management skills

Job Responsibilities:

• Service maintenance done on machinery; such as street sweepers, boom mowers, and more.
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
• Conduct repairs on mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replaces parts and components aiming for maximum reliability
• Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
• Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
• Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
• Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, replacing brooms, plow/spreader repairs etc.)
• Keep logs of work and report on issues
• Assembling snow plows, salt spreaders and other municipal equipment

Travel:

• Occasional training at factory locations.

Compensation:

• Base salary based on the person’s experience and qualifications.
• Expenses covered for additional training workshops
