What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Maintenance Technician and Groundskeeper position at Woodward-Granger Community School District?
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Maintenance Technician and Groundskeeper assists the Buildings and Grounds Director with preventive maintenance, service, and responsive services for district HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and assists with minor construction and improvement projects. The Maintenance Technician and Groundskeeper mows, trims, and maintains district property and assists with snow removal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Performs tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, clearing snow and ice, and related tasks.
- Inspects equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Maintains motors and other mechanical equipment and ensures that such equipment receives scheduled servicing.
- Obtains equipment, tools, and materials required for completion of assigned work.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, materials, equipment, and fuel, and places orders as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of maintenance tasks.
- Inspects equipment and facilities, and performs and/or recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
- Prepares and maintains records to document work and repairs as requested.
- Moves and transports furniture, equipment, boxed textbooks, and other supplies, manually or with mechanical assistance.
- Maintains outside of the building by removing snow and ice, mowing the lawn, maintaining shrubbery, picking up paper and debris, and removing and emptying containers of standing water.

- Utilize a computer to read District and Department email communications and to take required online training courses.
- Adhere to District policies and Department work rules.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Licensure:
- High School Diploma
- HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical Experience (preferred)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of communities and school locations.
- Ability and willingness to accept the responsibility of the position.
- Ability to use a computer to take required online training.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to use good judgment.
