Position Summary
Woodstock Union Middle School is seeking a positive, organized, and student-focused Middle School Track & Field Coach to lead and develop our interscholastic track and field program. The coach will be responsible for teaching fundamental track and field skills, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering teamwork, confidence, and personal growth among student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct safe, engaging, and age-appropriate practices focused on skill development and physical conditioning
- Teach fundamental techniques for track and field events (running, jumping, throwing, relays, etc.)
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, transportation, and other team activities
- Emphasize sportsmanship, respect, teamwork, and personal responsibility
- Prepare athletes for interscholastic competition and manage meet participation
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, athletic director, and school staff
- Maintain accurate attendance, equipment inventory, and eligibility records
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and league policies and safety guidelines
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold the values of Woodstock Union Middle School
Qualifications
- Experience coaching or participating in track and field or related athletic programs
- Experience working with middle school–aged students preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of age-appropriate training methods and athlete safety
- Ability to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Required background checks per district policy
Compensation
- Stipend position; $1,500-$2,200
