Maintenance Technician

This is a full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs all assigned duties in the district maintenance program.

2. Assists in exterior maintenance repair (antennas, vents, chimneys, walls, windows and doors.)

3. Assists in interior maintenance repair (stairs, ceilings, doors and windows.)

4. Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of built-in equipment (lockers, stage equipment, seating,

gymnasium equipment and backstops.)

5. Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of exterior and interior plumbing (drain pipes, coders,

water fountains, gas piping, toilets, kitchen equipment, home economics equipment, science and shop

equipment.)

6. Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of heating and ventilation systems (gas vents, masonry,

roof fans, dampers, ducts, wall fans, unit ventilators, boilers, motors, condensate and circulating

pumps, expansion tanks, traps, hot water heaters, air conditioners and thermostats.)

7. Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems (main service, distribution systems,

lighting, special outlets, exit signs, clock and program systems, intercommunication and public address

systems and scoreboards.)

8. Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of fire protection equipment (fire alarm systems, fire

extinguishers, pressure or storage tanks.)

9. Maintains assigned vehicles and schedules service for those vehicles through the Head of Maintenance.

10. Assists in grounds maintenance (snow plowing and snow blowing within entire district.)

11. Performs all work incidental to construction of small projects, including assembling of shelves,

cabinets and/or other simple furniture.

12. Assists in providing custodial services for facilities when the need arises, including but not limited to;

emergency situations and/or as substitute for absent custodians.

13. Processes work requisitions through verbal, paper and/or computerized format.

14. Works with contractors who may be hired to assist the District in its maintenance program and repairs.

15. Is responsible for compliance with proper safety requirements.

16. Is able to respond to need for emergency repairs on a 24/7 basis.

17. Protects the confidentiality of district and office records and information unless authorized and

directed by their supervisor to provide same when requested under the Illinois Freedom of Information

Act.

18. Protects the confidentiality of student records and information according to Board of Education policy

and regulations, Illinois Student Records Act and the Family Education and Privacy Act.

Pay: $26.53 - $26.54 per hour
