Job Summary:
The Lead Painter is responsible for overseeing interior and exterior painting, floor reconditioning, and various projects from start to finish while actively performing painting work. This role leads a crew of painters, ensures high-quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, and completes projects on schedule and within scope. The Lead Painter serves as the primary point of contact on-site and provides direction, training, and quality control for the painting team.
Job Specifications:
- Expected Pay Range: Starting $27.00 per hour
- The pay scale shown is the range that we reasonably expect to pay. Actual compensation offered may be adjusted based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.
- Shift & Schedule Availability: Full time year-round, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm
- Weekends and holidays when needed
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of painters on job sites
- Plan, organize, and assign daily tasks to ensure project deadlines are met
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and priming
- Apply paint, stains, coatings, or finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer expectations
- Review project plans, specifications, and color schedules
- Research, recommend, and source best product for conditions and materials
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
- Enforce safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Train and mentor painters, including new hires and apprentices
- Communicate progress, issues, and changes to supervisors or project managers
- Inspect completed work and perform touch-ups as necessary
Job Requirements:
- 5 years of professional painting experience
- 1–3 years of experience leading or supervising a painting crew
- Expert knowledge of surface preparation, coatings, and application techniques
- Ability to read work orders, and project specifications
- Ensure work, and work site complies with OSHA and Vermont state laws, regulations and statutes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- RRPM lead paint certified or the ability to acquire necessary certifications
- Climb ladders, kneel, crouch and get into tight spaces and perform repairs on varied surfaces.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
