What are the responsibilities and job description for the Robotics Mentor (Part time) position at Woodside Priory School?
Our FIRST Robotics program provides students with an extraordinary educational experience through experiential and interdisciplinary learning. Our school is community-oriented, and we are looking for a mentor who is focused on building student leadership, confidence, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for student interaction and empathy. The Robotics Mentor, Part time will help a wonderful team of students and mentors to dream big about the future of FIRST Robotics at the Priory.

Compensation
We are looking for a mentor who will jump in and assist the Lead Mentor of our program for the 2025-2026 season and beyond. The compensation is stipend between $3,000-5,000 depending on relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
● Serve alongside other mentors for Priory Robotics
● Model appropriate, professional, team-oriented behavior
● Support the current student leadership and other mentors
● Monitor the lab to ensure student safety and emotional well-being
● Train students and mentors on relevant skills needed
● Supervise the design and manufacture of the robot
● Ensure healthy student-to-student interaction
● Fulfill other duties as assigned by Lead Mentor
● Attend meetings & competitions
On-Campus Schedule
● 1-2 weekdays during the pre-build season.
● Being available for after school and/or Saturday team meetings throughout the build season January - April
● Primary schedule needs include tentatively 1-2 weekdays and Saturdays from the first week of January until the completion of our 2nd competition in early April.
● Weekdays are typically 3-6 p.m., and Saturdays are 10- 5 p.m.; as we get closer to the end of the season, the hours increase as we have more work to complete.
Competition Schedule
● Being a chaperone to our competitions for the 2025-2026 season:
● Mar/Apr competition #1: commuting or overnight, 3-4 days
● Mar/Apr competition #2: commuting or overnight, 3-4 days
● CalGames “off season” competition in the fall - typically 1st or 2nd weekend of October (date tbd)
Desired Qualifications (or willingness to learn)
● Experience on a FIRST (FRC) Robotics team
● Coding in Java
● Fabrication skills, including (but not limited to): machining, CNC routing, 3D printing, soldering, electronics, laser cutting, welding, carpentry
● CAD experience, including (but not limited to): SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape
● Entrepreneurship, including (but not limited to): marketing, outreach, graphics design, social media presence
