The Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) serves as a resource, advocate, and facilitator, contributing to the spiritual and cultural growth of the school in alignment with its Catholic and Benedictine identity. Rooted in the Benedictine values of hospitality, community, and respect for all persons, the Director will work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and leadership to embed principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging into all aspects of school life. The position reports to the Dean of Benedictine Bridging and Belonging, supervises the Coordinator of the Benedictine Scholars Program and the Coordinator of Affinity Groups, and may teach a course in the Theology Department. This position will lead and support efforts to cultivate a community where all students, faculty, staff, and families feel seen, valued, and included.

Strategic Leadership

Support and implement the school’s inclusion and belonging vision and action plan in alignment with Benedictine and Catholic teachings. Partner with the Dean of Benedictine Bridging & Belonging to integrate DEIB goals into curricular, co-curricular, and institutional practices. Advise school leadership on best practices related to DEIB in independent Catholic education. Lead the DEI Committee and Unity Council to advance initiatives that foster equity and inclusion on campus.

Education & Programming

Design and deliver student programs, assemblies, and activities that foster dialogue, understanding, and cultural awareness. Teaching a semester-long course in the Theology Department. (Starting Spring ‘26) Collaborate with Campus Ministry to create service and justice programs, specifically immersion experiences, that reflect cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. Collaborate with academic departments to support inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum development and cultural humility. Coordinate and lead professional development for faculty and staff on DEIB-related topics.

Student Experience

Collaborate with the BSP Coordinator to support Benedictine Scholars in their academic, social, and leadership development. Support and advise student and adult affinity groups, collaborate with and advise Affinity Group Moderators, and oversee DEIB-related student leadership, providing resources and advocacy to ensure all students feel valued and heard.

Community Engagement

Engage families (including the Priory Families of Color) and alumni in conversations and events that celebrate diversity and promote belonging. Build relationships with local and national organizations to expand resources and partnerships.

Institutional Support

Collaborate with Admissions, Campus Ministry, Wellness, College Counseling, Learning Support, Athletics, Performing Arts, and other departments to promote inclusive practices and support systems. Analyze relevant survey data (e.g., Faculty and Staff Culture Survey, Student Experience Survey, Senior Exit Interview, Campus Ministry program surveys, etc.) to measure trends and key learnings through a DEIB lens. Maintain awareness of current trends, research, and issues in DEIB and Catholic and Benedictine education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in ministry, education, or other related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in DEIB work in a school or youth-centered environment.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic social teaching and Benedictine values.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and relate across diverse groups within a collaborative model of educational leadership.
  • Experience developing and facilitating workshops, training, or student programming.
  • Sensitivity, compassion, and integrity in engaging with complex and personal issues.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth in DEIB and Catholic identity work.
