POSITION: Assistant Principal (.2 FTE) / Learning Strategist (.8 FTE) at Woodside Elementary School
START DATE: July 1, 2026
Maine School Administrative District No. 75 is seeking a skilled Administrator and Experienced Educator to help administer the daily operations of the Woodside Elementary School and conduct educational intervention practices in Topsham, Maine. Woodside will have approximately 315 Students throughout grades PreK-5 for 2026-2027.
This is full time position located at the Woodside Elementary School, our district’s largest elementary school merging responsibilities of an assistant principal with an elementary learning strategist.
The Assistant Principal role will assist the school prinicpal in overseeing, developing, and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets to promote each student's educational development and the professional development of each Staff member.
The Learning Strategist role is a collaborative instructional specialist responsible for designing and delivering targeted, data-driven supports to students who require additional academic or behavioral assistance to succeed in the core curriculum. This role champions a deep commitment to the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework, collaborating closely with classroom teachers and special educators to strengthen Tier 1 instruction and proactively embed high-impact interventions within the general education setting.

- Strong experience in curriculum planning, review, and implementation.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of data to analyze and solve problems
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and community.
- Facilitate a culture of learning at the elementary school level.
- Proven successful experience as a building-level Administrator.
- Broad background in instructional programming and professional development of Staff Members.
- The ability to build relations that lead professionals toward goal attainment
- Responsibility for building administration and the safety/welfare of students and staff.

- Facilitate grade level teams to review student data, identify learning barriers, and design and implement comprehensive, strength-based interventions.
- Collaborate with grade level teams to design and implement research-based academic and behavioral interventions and embed those interventions in the general education setting to the greatest extent possible.
- Conduct frequent brief assessment to monitor progress and determine if interventions and supports are effective for students
- Actively participate in building and/or district leadership teams to identify systemic barriers to student achievement
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with families that encourage and facilitate their active participation and input in the educational planning process.
- For candidates holding a valid Special Education certification, this role may include serving as a Special Education Casemanager for a limited number of cases, ensuring the development, implementation, and compliance of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Building Administrator Certification (#40).
- Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Teacher: Child with Disabilities K-8 (282) Certification or K-6 General Education Teacher (020) Certification.
- Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Background Check (CHRC) authorization.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with, but not limited to, employees, students, and community families.
- Solid knowledge of school law and areas such as 504 and Special Education.
- Mandt trained or ability to obtain.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt curriculum.
- Effective behavior management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction and record-keeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
