Responsibilities:
- To orient/train all new C-Store department employees and retrain employees when necessary.
- To develop a weekly labor schedule in a timely basis, for all C-store department employees for approval by the store manager.
- To allocate shelf space according to movement, capacity and profitability.
- To supervise/order all C-store products and supplies so as to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired C-store inventory turns.
- To supervise:
- Loading of stocking carts/pallets;
- Transportation of cases to the sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets;
- Matching of the case strip to the shelf tag/stock;
- Placement of merchandise in the designated shelf/display position/area;
- The "face/front" program for the front row of each display;
- The immediate pick up/removal of all broken containers, packing materials/boxes from the sales floor or customer’s pathway.
- To assure the safety of self, customers and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a store manager of any potential hazard immediately.
- To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.
- To supervise the safety procedures used in the operation of the baler, case cutter, pallet jack and fork-lift and floor cleaning equipment.
- To supervise the counting and recording of individual items of merchandise for inventory.
- To supervise the manual price marking/labeling of merchandise without a UPC code.
- To supervise the movement of damaged/unsalable and "returnable" products from shelves to the backroom, sorting of the materials into bins and the return of damage to the reclaim center.
- To supervise the use of proper case opening and product stacking techniques to prevent damage to product.
- To communicate with the store manager on problems, recommendations for change, effectiveness of plans and merchandising decisions.
Work Environment:
- Inside work with variations in heat/cold/dust/humidity caused by the opening of store entrance doors.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Able to count and verify customer change, checks, WIC size/count, and coupons.
- Ability to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers concerning store polity/procedures and use of equipment.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
- A stable work and educational history.
- The ability to read and write English. Able to read instructions, labels, printed paper and forms.
- Ability to make judgments concerning customers and the checkout of purchases.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a related type of job.
- Prior experience operating a cash register, scale, intercom.
- Prior Supervision experience.
