Storm Water Coordinator

About the Role
Woods Cross City is seeking a dedicated Storm Water Coordinator to lead efforts in maintaining compliance with state and federal storm water regulations and ensuring the protection of Utah’s rivers, lakes, and streams. This position plays a critical role in reviewing SWPPP plans, conducting inspections, and implementing the City’s Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP).
Key Responsibilities
- Review SWPPP plans for compliance with UPDES and MS4 permits.
- Conduct routine SWPPP inspections on construction sites and maintain accurate documentation.
- Coordinate with state and county agencies to address illicit discharges and emergency responses.
- Oversee compliance with all aspects of the City’s SWMP, including maintenance of storm drain systems, street sweeping, and infrastructure improvements.
- Attend preconstruction meetings and perform site inspections for City and private projects.
- Respond to citizen inquiries and emergencies related to storm drainage.
- Assist with snowplow duties, city events, and other Public Works tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year of heavy equipment experience or equivalent combination of skills and abilities.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of storm drainage systems, erosion control, and BMPs.
- Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS mapping, and work order software.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
- Special Requirements:
- Valid Utah CDL Class “B” within 3 months of hire.
- Flagman certification within 6 months.
- Confined space training within 3 months.
- Excavator I certifications.
- Registered Storm Water Inspector and SWPPP Reviewer.
- Must live within reasonable emergency response time and be available for on-call duty.
Work Environment
This role involves both office and field work, requiring physical activity and exposure to seasonal weather conditions. Occasional emergency response and local travel are expected.
