Transportation Safety Officer/Routing Coordinator

Position: Safety Officer/Routing Coordinator (Reports to the Director of Transportation)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Must hold and maintain a Class B CDL with SDDE School Bus Certification
• Computer Skills
• Minimum of 2 years school bus driving experience preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees certifications, renewals, and assessments for all drivers and coaches
• Issues permits for field trips and extracurricular activities
• Creates the weekly driving schedule for drivers and substitutes
• Develops bus routes for regular education and special education buses
• Pulls motor vehicle records for drivers, coaches and prospective drivers
• Manages safety standards compliance for drivers
• Communicates with parents, community members and school staff
• Maintains email communication with schools relating to transportation changes
• Maintains attendance for transportation employees
• Attends transportation meetings with county and state officials
• Performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative work in support of operations and activities related to transportation
