Position Overview: Woodrow Wilson Academy is seeking interested and qualified candidates for an IT Administrator to oversee all systems and device technology in our school. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic problem solver with a track record of managing IT operations and troubleshooting at the global and local level. This individual will lead planning, implementation, and integration of technology while identifying and mitigating security and compliance risks. This role will play a key part in ensuring long term success of Woodrow Wilson Academy. This position is also an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their skill set across all aspects of IT, including networking, routing, switching, device management, cybersecurity, and systems administration. The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, take ownership, and continuously grow their technical expertise while supporting a collaborative school community. Key Responsibilities Include: Strategic Technology Integration: Lead the implementation and integration of key K-12 software solutions, including Power School, Front line, and others, ensuring they are not only functional but also integrated into our school’s operations. System and Network Administration: Manage and optimize our core infrastructure, including routing and switching, Windows Servers, Azure, and Google Workspace for over 500 users. Maintain and troubleshoot all networking systems, including LAN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, wireless networks, and our Vonage VoIP phone system. Mobile Device & Endpoint Management: Manage device deployment, configuration, and compliance for macOS, Windows, iOS/iPadOS, and Chromebooks. Utilizing Jamf and Active Directory Group Policy. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across laptops, desktops, tablets, and class technology.
Web Services & Public DNS Management: Manage and maintain public DNS records, domain registrations, TLS certifications. Oversee the schools public website and assist with content updates. Physical and Data Security Management: Maintain campus security through the management of security platforms including cameras, access control, and environmental sensors. Implement and manage robust data recovery processes and security policies to ensure data integrity and system security. Project Leadership: Spearhead major IT initiatives that directly support our organizational goals. This includes the implementation of cloud-based systems like Bamboo HR, Zapier, and others to improve scalability, security, and efficiency. Technical Support & Operations: Oversee all IT support operations, utilizing tools like FMX to streamline ticket management and prioritize tasks. Implement data-driven strategies to achieve a high first-hour ticket resolution rate. Manage tech budget: purchasing, IT budget management, software purchasing and renewals Attending evening plays and events to manage sound and video technology Manage Home School Program device management at 3 locations on a periodic basis Qualifications 1 year of related professional experience in systems administration Technical Skills: Deep expertise in Operating Systems (Windows Server, macOS, Linux) and Cloud Computing (Azure, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace). high level of familiarity with K-12 solutions such as Power School, Maia Learning, Clever, and similar applications. Education: Associate's degree in a related field at minimum is required or equivalent combination of professional experience and industry certifications (e.g. CompITA, Google Workspace Administration, Microsoft, Cisco, Jamf.
- Experience with managing staff and working with contractors/vendors.
- Experience with school security systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, vendors, and parents.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, perform minor repairs, and work in various environmental conditions (indoors/outdoors).
- Ability to respond to emergencies, including off-hours.
- Knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets a plus
