What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Resource Teacher K-8 position at Woodridge School District 68?
- Supervises the process of identification/classification of ESL/Bilingual children.
- Provides instruction in the child's native language as designated by state regulations and plans a personalized program of instruction for the growth and progress of each student that incorporates assessment, diagnosis, prescription and evaluation as needed.
- Provides ESL services for identified children not in the bilingual program, as requested.
- Maintains records in accordance with State ESL/Bilingual requirements. Maintains other records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Collaborates with faculty to accommodate the needs of ESL/Bilingual children in mainstreamed classrooms.
- Interprets for parents and staff in the native language and translates school documents, as requested.
- Recruits parent advisory council members for the Bilingual program.
- Provides staff inservice on ESL/Bilingual techniques and strategies.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials for ESL/Bilingual program.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academics and behavioral process of all assigned students. Meets with parents of Bilingual children on a regular basis.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor.
- Plans appropriate instructional activities to meet the district's Bilingual goals and objectives.
- Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and records grades in accordance with district regulations.
- Collaborates with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Pursues professional growth activities such as: professional reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Performs such tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
