CONCESSIONS STAFF

Job Summary
Concessionaires are responsible for food preparation, register operations, and maintaining a clean concession stand and surrounding area. The full wage range for this is approved to be $13.00-$22.50. The hiring range for the 2026 season is $13.00-$15.00 depending on qualifications, minimum wage for those under 18 is $13.00 per hour. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Greet all guests entering and leaving the area with a pleasant demeanor.
• Remain available for customers.
• Prepare and keep an adequate supply of food available
• Empty trash receptacles in a timely fashion and pick up trash and debris throughout the concession areas.
• Effectively communicate important information including but not limited to customer feedback, accidents, safety concerns, maintenance issues, broken equipment, program and resource concerns as needed.
• Enter all transactions into the POS, collect payment and issue correct change, and maintain a balanced cash drawer. Be responsible for operating and cleaning food preparation equipment and appliances.
• Clean any portion of the facility, as needed.

Customer Service

• Maintain a pleasant and professional image, understand and promote Park District products and services, communicate with participants, handle problems politely and efficiently, follow procedures to solve guest problems.
• Be prepared to deal with emergency health issues in accordance with Park District policies. Special sanitation procedures are to be taken in the event of some illnesses, see policy 3.4 in the Comprehensive Policy & Procedures Manual for details.

Initiative

• Have a good understanding of the Park District policies, procedures, and operations and enforce them in a positive manner.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Communication

• Avoid unnecessary talking to patrons or staff.
• Use appropriate subject matter in the presence of children.

Technical Skills

• Use appropriate time keeping method/system to accurately record time worked in accordance with policy/procedure. Sign and timely submit time card supervisor.

Teamwork

• Be at the assigned duty station at the assigned time and remain at the station during the scheduled time.
• Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
