Position Purpose: A lifeguard’s primary responsibility is to prevent drowning and other injuries from occurring at their aquatic facility. While not on surveillance duty, lifeguards with complete secondary duties as assigned. Lifeguards are required to act with speed and confidence in emergency situations both in and out of the water.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform patron surveillance.
- Minimize or eliminate hazards.
- Enforce facility rules and educate members and guests about them.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Provide emergency care when needed, including administering first aid, performing CPR, and using an AED.
- Work as a team with other lifeguards, facility staff and management.
- Perform opening duties, closing duties and facility safety checks.
- Perform safety orientations, administer swim tests, and fit life jackets.
- Clean or perform maintenance.
- Test the pool water chemistry.
- Complete records and reports.
- Provide excellent, positive customer service to members and guests.
- Assist members and guests with questions and concerns.
- Facilitate member and guest check-in and provide towel service.
- Assist with Special Events and Holidays.
- May teach swim lessons or coach if qualified, not guaranteed
Education and Work Experience Qualifications
- Experience in customer service or lifeguarding preferred.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
- Swim Instructors or Coaches must possess Water Safety Instructor certification from the American Red Cross or similar certification or be a USA Swimming Coach or equivalent.
Salary : $18 - $25
