Job Summary: TEAM High School was established in 1997 as an alternative high school for students to earn a diploma from Woodland School District. Each student has an individualized "Written Student Learning Plan" (WSLP) and completes coursework both at school and remotely based on the student's needs. TEAM teachers develop Written Student Learning Plans, work closely with other TEAM staff and TEAM families to create excellent community and family connections, and provide students with assistance and instruction as they complete their academic work. Work is performed under the direction of the principal.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Washington State teaching certificate with proper endorsements for assignment
• Well-developed management skills, people skills, and effective communication skills
• Experience in data analysis and instructional design responsiveness to data
• Growth mindset and belief that all children can learn at high levels
• Team player willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
• Experience working with diverse students and families, and a commitment to advocating for all children
• Additional endorsements in other subject areas are preferred, but not required
• Candidates will need to demonstrate an ability to use a variety of teaching strategies addressing differing student learning styles, often within the same class setting and blocks of time
• Well-developed management skills, technology skills, people skills, and effective communication skills
• Regular and punctual attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
• Preference in the screening of applications will be given to bilingual candidates

• Ability to speak clearly to students, other teachers, parents, and administrative officials
• Ability to explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority and in a clear and concise way so that students can understand and keep their attention

The ideal candidate will also have:
•       Experience in a virtual school or school of choice environment
•       Experience facilitating digital learning for students
•       Experience training adults
•       An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)

Instruction and Student Achievement Responsibilities:
•       Demonstrate knowledge of the Washington State standards and testing requirements
•       Research and create lessons that complement/supplement APEX
•       Track and assess student academic progress and attendance
•       Individualize instruction to help each student achieve goals outlined in their student learning plan
•       Support parents with student curricular and instructional issues
•       Provide students and parents with regular feedback regarding student performance and progress
•       Generate informal and formal reports regarding student performance and progress
•       Support students with special needs, including participation on IEP teams as needed
 
Virtual Instructional Responsibilities:
•       Create and manage a virtual classroom/office
•       Establish relationships with assigned families
•       Support parents with school set-up and logistics questions
•       Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families
 
General Duties:
•       Support parent instruction of district-approved curriculum
•       Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
•       Develop lesson plans and instructional material suitable for individualized and small group instruction.
•       Differentiate instruction to adapt the instructional materials to the needs of each student
•       Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
•       Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
•       Diagnose the learning disabilities of students
•       Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
•       Recognize and manage conditions which may lead to student control problems.
•       Establish clear parameters for student "in-classroom" conduct and make these expectations known
•       Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
•       Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
•       Create a climate of mutual respect between the teacher and their students
•       Develop substitute plans when absent in enough detail for continued learning
•       Plan and help coordinate the work of instructional assistants and students
