Job Description:
The Forestry Technician operates a UTV on large, commercial tree farms marking stream buffers, obstacles, and removing small, fallen trees prior to roadside applications. This reconnaissance is critical to ensure a safe, legal, and effective application. Work is in remote locations of western Washington and Oregon and require staying out-of-town during the week. Lodging and food per diem are provided when staying out-of-town. Other work may include helping on a backpack spraying team on rough terrain or assisting with drone applications. This seasonal position lasts from first of June to mid-August.
Responsibilities
· Travel large 100,000 acre tree farm road systems on a UTV tying flags at stream crossings, marking obstacles, and preparing roads for the spray truck.
· Occasional cutting and removing of small, downed trees that are blocking roadway using a chainsaw or ax.
· Maintain detailed maps and records of areas covered and obstacles marked.
· Communicate project details with spray applicator as needed.
· May occasionally help on a backpack or UTV spraying team with 40lbs backpack and rough terrain.
· May assist with drone application projects as mixer/loader.
· Possibly have an opportunity to operate spray truck if desired and able to pass necessary licensing exams.
Requirements
· At least 18 years old
· Valid US Driver’s License with a good driving record
· Able to safely and responsibly operate UTV
· Able to safely drive and back a pickup truck and trailer
· Able to pass drug screening and background check
· Able to understand and follow safety and procedure instructions
· Willing to work alone out-of-town for 8-12 weeks (home every weekend)
· Able to lift 75lbs and carry 40lbs backpack sprayer on steep & uneven terrain
· Comfortable working alone in a remote, forest setting for multiple days in a row
· Willing to work 60 hrs/week

Compensation
· Starting at $22/hr overtime after 8 hours each day
· Motels are paid with company card
· $50 each night out-of-town to cover food
· $75 per month for cell phone use
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
