Duties
- Prepare and serve meals that adhere to specific dietary requirements, nutritional guidelines, and safety standards.
- Assist in food production tasks such as chopping, portioning, plating, and assembling meals efficiently.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers, following proper sanitation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, adhering to food safety regulations and JCAHO standards.
- Support the dietary department by managing inventory, rotating stock, and ensuring proper food handling practices are followed.
- Assist residents during meal service with respect and courtesy, providing excellent customer service.
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or equipment to prevent injury and ensure workplace safety.
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle food production and meal preparation tasks efficiently while adhering to dietary guidelines.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining sanitation standards required for food safety certifications.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in healthcare environments enhances your ability to meet residents’ unique needs.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, nutrition principles, and workplace safety protocols such as PPE use and manual handling techniques.
- Basic math skills for portioning ingredients and managing inventory accurately.
