Operator I / II / III
The City is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Operator I, Operator II, or Operator III within the Utilities and Public Works Department. Placement will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, certifications, and qualifications. This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of City water distribution, wastewater collection, streets, and storm drainage systems.

Additional Information
  • Must be able to respond to call-outs within 45 minutes and maintain 24-hour/day availability
  • Must be able to perform physical labor in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and tools required
Operator I
Pay Range: $24.97 – $30.58 per hour
Job Summary
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and operates equipment in support of the operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water distribution and sewage collection facilities and systems, sewer, street, and storm drainage infrastructure. Responsibilities include maintenance of utilities, streets, drainage systems, snow removal, and operation of heavy equipment.
Education / Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience in similar field services operations, water/sewer main installation, street repair, or operation of construction equipment preferred
  • Colorado Class B CDL with tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Wastewater Collections I and Water Distribution I certifications, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Good driving record required

Operator II
Pay Range: $27.46 – $33.64 per hour
Job Summary
Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and operates equipment in support of the operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water distribution and sewage collection facilities and systems. This position requires increased technical knowledge, independent judgment, and proficiency in system maintenance and equipment operation.
Education / Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Two to three (2–3) years of experience in street maintenance, utilities field operations, water/sewer main installation, repair, or construction equipment operation
  • Colorado Class B CDL with tanker endorsement required
  • Good driving record required
  • Must possess Water Distribution II and Wastewater Collections II certifications

Operator III
Pay Range: $30.21 – $37.01 per hour
Job Summary
Performs advanced skilled maintenance work and equipment operation in support of City water distribution, wastewater collection, sewer, street, and storm drainage systems. This senior-level position serves as a lead technical operator and assists in training lower-level staff while performing complex infrastructure maintenance and repair tasks.
Education / Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Three to five (3–5) years of experience in utilities/field services, water and sewer main installation, repair, or operation of construction equipment
  • Colorado Class B CDL with tanker endorsement required
  • Good driving record required
  • Must possess one of the following:
    • Water Distribution III and Wastewater Collections III certifications; or
    • ACI Concrete Flatwork Associate Certification; or
    • Colorado LTAP Roads Scholar I; or
    • AI Paving Inspector Certification; or
    • ATSS Certifications (TCT, TCS, TCDS, and TST)
