Duties
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly following dietary guidelines and resident preferences
- Serve meals with a focus on presentation, portion control, and adherence to dietary requirements
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, including sanitation and proper food handling practices
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, dishwashers, and food prep tools
- Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning utensils, and managing food storage
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or supplies to prevent injury
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control procedures
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability in food production, meal preparation, and food handling techniques
- Familiarity with dietary requirements for geriatric or special needs populations
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of sanitation standards such as JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) guidelines and food safety regulations
- Experience working with diverse populations, including geriatric patients or individuals with specific dietary needs
- Basic math skills for portioning and inventory management; excellent customer service skills are a plus
