Job Description:

The Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment (e.g. front-end loader, bulldozer, excavator, material handler, skid steer, etc.) to complete tasks at the job site. This position will be primarily front-end loader operation with other tasks as required. The HEO may be responsible for loading and unloading heavy equipment for lowboy or drop-deck trailers and/or smaller equipment trailers. The HEO is responsible for inspecting the heavy equipment prior to and after operation to ensure it is working properly (pre-operation and post-operation inspection) and free of issues that may cause break-down of equipment or injury to operator or others. The HEO is responsible for monitoring equipment performance and maintenance requirements (scheduled or unscheduled) and reporting any needs to the Maintenance Department or Operations Manager. In addition, the HEO may be responsible for weighing trucks into and out of the job site and recording weights into a database for further analysis. The HEO may also be responsible for receiving and communicating instructions from the customers to other members of the team as well as management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and careful attention to detail.

Recommended Years of Experience:

5 years of heavy equipment operator experience required.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe workplace and equipment operation technique at all times;
• Possess significant knowledge of the procedures used to operate heavy equipment and maintain a safe working environment;
• Perform material handling tasks at jobsite using heavy equipment (e.g. front-end loader, bulldozer, skid steer, excavator, etc.);
• Load and unload heavy equipment from lowboy or drop-deck trailers and/or smaller equipment trailers;
• Inspect heavy equipment prior to and after operations for malfunction or wear:
• Maintain and service various equipment to ensure reliability throughout the work day:
• Complete minor repair work to equipment, as necessary;
• Report any scheduled or unscheduled maintenance requirements to the Maintenance Department or Operations Manager;
• May Weigh trucks in and out of the jobsite to ensure accurate weight and maintain accurate product inventory;
• May dispatch truck to delivery locations per customer instructions to satisfy customer orders and ensure customers maintain adequate inventory levels and high levels of customer satisfaction;
• Collaborate with management to adjust material handling operations to optimize project needs or the needs of customers;
• Adhere to all company, local, state and federal safety and regulations;
• Maintain a clean operating environment to ensure adherence to environmental rules and regulations.

Requirements:

• Must be able to work 40 hours per week;
• Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions including ice, snow and cold;
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when necessary;
• Knowledge of operating heavy equipment to load trucks or for delivery or move material;
• Knowledge of weighing trucks into and out of the facility using platform scales a plus.;
• Knowledge of computers and cell phone (voice and text) a plus;
• Ability to hollow strict company safety rules;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization and motivational skills; and
• Excellent attention to detail.
