Position:Special Education Teacher (Moderate) Grade 3 – Long Term Substitute

Qualifications:
●MA DESE Mild/Moderate Special Education (PK-8) certification - required
●MA DESE Teacher License - certified Elementary (1-6); Highly Qualified - preferred
●MA DESE ESL certification - preferred
●SEI endorsement - required
●Specialized reading programs certifications or experience - preferred
●Experience administering and scoring Special Education evaluation protocols
●Ability to differentiate instruction across all curriculum areas for all learners
●Ability to modify curriculum and make educational accommodations for students with disabilities
●Ability to assess students, collect and organize data, and analyze data to inform instruction
●Ability to create innovative lessons using interactive technology
●Ability to utilize various computer software programs – Google Apps, student database (X2), MS Office, etc.
●Ability to collaborate with colleagues and function as part of a team
●Ability to create and apply behavior plans
●Experience developing and writing IEP goals
●Excellent communication skills required
●Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program Certification - preferred
●Experience managing support staff
Responsibilities:
●Preparation, presentation and evaluation of lessons;
●Management of classroom and the care of equipment and material contained therein;
●Supervision of students placed in their charge
●Maintenance of records directly related to classroom instruction;
●Counsel and guidance of students, especially those within their classroom;
●Facilitate Team meetings;
●Develop IEPs, progress reports, evaluations, scheduling students with a variety of special education needs;
●Administer/interpret variety of diagnostic instruments;
●Communicate regularly with parents/guardians/community agencies and peers to ensure student success
●Collaborate with general education teacher and teaching assistants
●Management and supervision of teaching/behavioral assistants
●Other duties as assigned by Building and District Administration and Special Education Team Chair
