What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Principal (3-5) position at Woodland Elementary School?
Position: Assistant Principal
Location: Woodland Elementary School
Schedule: 2026-2027 School Year
Salary: Per Contract (12-month)
To Start: July 15, 2026
Woodland Elementary School in Milford, Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Principal to join its school leadership team. Serving approximately 1,000 students in grades 3 through 5, Woodland is one of the largest elementary schools in the state and a vibrant, diverse community where close to half of our students are English Learners. With its large enrollment, multilingual community, established MTSS structures, and SEI-endorsed teaching staff, Woodland offers an exceptional setting for an equity-focused leader to grow. Led by a collaborative team of a Principal and three Assistant Principals, the school is looking for a leader who sees our students' linguistic and cultural diversity as a defining strength and is committed to ensuring that every learner is known, supported, and set up to succeed.
A significant focus of this role is student management. As part of the administrative team, the Assistant Principal will carry substantial responsibility for maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive school environment, addressing disciplinary concerns with consistency, fairness, and a restorative lens. This includes handling behavioral referrals, monitoring attendance, supervising students throughout the day, and supporting MTSS processes for behavioral and social-emotional needs—working closely with the Principal and support staff to keep these functions responsive, equitable, and well-coordinated across the building.
Beyond student management, this position offers meaningful instructional leadership. The Assistant Principal will help support the implementation of new high-quality curriculum—Investigating History and Open Sci Ed—and will directly support teaching staff in bringing these materials to life. This is a role for a leader who can both anchor a strong, supportive school culture and partner with teachers to strengthen teaching and learning for every student.
