Elementary School Teacher - Second Grade

Woodland Country Day School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Second Grade Elementary Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year.

Position Responsibilities

The Elementary Teacher will:

• Create a positive, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment
• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate, hands-on lessons aligned with curriculum expectations
• Provide instruction that meets the academic and individual needs of students
• Build strong, respectful relationships with students
• Maintain clear classroom expectations and consistent routines
• Assess student progress and communicate academic and behavioral growth to families
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation
• Collaborate with colleagues, division leadership, and specialists
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and the broader life of the school
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians
• Support Woodland's mission, values, policies, and school-wide expectations
• Contribute positively to the school community beyond the classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field
• New Jersey teaching certification preferred
• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction and meet a range of learning needs
• Commitment to creating a supportive classroom environment
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a faculty team
• A genuine enthusiasm for working with children
