Duties
- Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and readiness before each route.
- Supervise students during boarding, riding, and disembarking to maintain order and promote positive behavior.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and emergency responders using clear English or bilingual communication skills.
- Enforce safety rules and behavior management strategies to create a respectful environment onboard.
- Assist students with special needs or childcare requirements, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
- Complete accurate logs, incident reports, and vehicle maintenance records as required by regulations.
Experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory for all positions.
- Prior experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or working with children is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Experience in behavior management or teaching can enhance your ability to handle student interactions effectively.
- Ability to work safely in various weather conditions while maintaining professionalism and attentiveness.
Job Type: Part-time
