Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the accounting department with day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting and compliance. This role is ideal for a self-starter with strong analytical skills and a passion for accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Support accounts payable and receivable functions
- Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data and reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 2 years of accounting experience preferred (petroleum or energy industry experience a plus)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MacOS and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
