Join the Woodcroft Swim Team as an Assistant Swim Coach! We’re seeking enthusiastic, dependable individuals who are passionate about swimming and enjoy working with young athletes. As an Assistant Coach, you will help support the Head Coach in developing swimmers’ technique, confidence, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
If you’re energetic, knowledgeable, and excited about helping swimmers grow both in and out of the water, we’d love to have you on our coaching staff!
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in leading daily swim practices.
- Provide instruction and feedback to swimmers on stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategy.
- Encourage athlete development in a positive, supportive manner.
- Help organize and supervise swimmers during practices and swim meets.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and a strong team culture.
- Support meet preparation, including relays, lineup organization, and deck management.
- Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, coaching and aquatic staff.
- Ensure a safe environment during practices and meets.
- Assist with team activities, events, meets and celebrations.
- Serve as a positive role model both in and out of the water.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16 years old.
- Competitive swimming experience strongly preferred.
- Previous coaching, swim instruction, or leadership experience preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Schedule:
This is a seasonal position during the summer swim team season, May - July. Practices are held in the evenings while DPS is still in session and then switches to the mornings. Meets are typically on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Availability for meets is required.
