Summary Of Responsibilities
- Supervises and trains full-time, part-time, and temporary custodial personnel in all custodial operations.
- Trains and ensures safety in working with hazardous chemicals, cleanup of body fluids, ladders, lifts and other equipment.
- Adheres to department cleaning, lock-up/unlocking, and furniture set-up in order to provide efficiency and good quality.
- Maintains inventory and issues supplies to custodians.
- Assists facilities to maintain a good public image by providing a safe, clean, comfortable environment conducive to learning for students, visitors and employees.
- Performs and ensures the daily maintenance and cleanliness of custodial equipment.
- Reports building and equipment repair needs to the Custodial Supervisor.
- Assumes duties of custodians, other leads and some duties of the custodial supervisors in their absence.
- Builds team cohesion and unity while addressing potential discord between team members.
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent plus one year of full-time custodial experience, including some supervision (part-time experience prorated).
- A driver's license is required for this position.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of training in proper use of hazardous chemicals and products.
- Knowledge of cleanup and proper protection from body fluids.
- Knowledge of pest control.
- Knowledge of all floor types such as, cement, wood, vinyl, and ceramic tile as well as carpet fibers, weaves and backings.
- Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, common cleaning chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums and scrubbers.
- Knowledge of general maintenance operations.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Computer use such as Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS software (desktop and apps).
- Ability to supervise and provide on-the-job training.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to perform heavy lifting with the ability to expend arduous physical effort and to work in conditions that may involve some hazards and at times, considerable discomforts.
