Role Purpose: The list below states the duties and responsibilities of the chemical handler/blender. The chemical handler/blender is ultimately responsible to ensure these tasks are completed.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport chemicals around pourline.
- Prepare blends using formulation blend sheet following steps by step instructions, verify all weights are accurate and proper blending techniques are utilized.
- Clean all trial pots and blend pots after every blend. Remove and clean strainers as required or at least once a week.
- Verify chemical tank system levels are above production run requirements.
- Become a member of ERT, and ability to attend training sessions.
- Fill in during vacation days / personal days.
- Insure all tanker trucks are off loaded promptly.
- Maintain pre-mix – surge areas in orderly fashion (housekeeping- painting).
- Inventory chemicals used to determine ordering status based on chemicals lead time to verify proper safety stock quantities.
- When handling chemicals, ensure all required PPE is worn and safely guards/equipment is used during normal shift operations.
- Track waste by stream & weight, coordinate waste shipments, complete manifests for waste shipments – be waste minimization member.
- Ensure area is clean and all chemicals are properly located in their assigned area.
- Maintain tote agitation.
- Maintain chemical storage area, tank farm, and loading pad in clean or
- Verify and maintain proper labels on all chemicals.
- Actively clean up any spills during process.
- May perform other duties a deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Agility – Hand / Eye coordination Communication – Interpersonal, Oral, and Written Mechanical – Use of hand-held tools
- Knowledge of / and compliance with Safety regulations.
- Be dependable and have a good attendance record.
- Be available to work flexible hours and overtime.
- Self-starter, with demonstrated continuous improvement traits; effective at working independently.
- Perform tasks through to completion.
- Be mechanically inclined, plumbing, pneumatic.
- Forklift certification
- Must know all procedures required to handle chemical leak, spill or other emergencies.
PPE Required
§ Respirator (when dispensing chemicals, blending chemicals and inside tunnel area)
§ Face Shield (when dispensing chemical, blending chemicals)
§ Safety glasses (all times)
§ Reflective safety vest (unless in platform or tunnel area)
Working conditions: Hot work environment with constant motions of climbing, twisting, lifting, and bending is being performed: congestion of department, exposure to TDI (Toluene Di-Isocyanate), PPE is required to be worn when dispensing and blending chemicals.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
