Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is seeking a Laboratory Materials Testing Technician to join our Central Canada Materials Testing group based out of our Cambridge, Ontario office. Join our team of specialists who provide materials testing and quality assurance as an integral component to design, and ensure projects are built with the safest and most sustainable materials. We provide materials testing and quality assurance services on some of the biggest projects in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide materials testing support within Wood’s CCIL certified Cambridge materials testing laboratory
- Assist with administration of annual MTO and CCIL correlation and proficiency testing programs
- Laboratory Testing of the physical properties of soils, aggregates and concrete in strict accordance with the applicable Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Canadian Council of Independent Laboratory (CCIL) and American Standard Testing Materials (ASTM) standards
- Follow Wood's laboratory Health & Safety program
- Assist with equipment maintenance and calibrations as required
- Preparation and distribution of laboratory testing reports, and liaison with Wood’s geotechnical staff, clients and stakeholders
Skills / Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with OACETT
- 1 years of laboratory testing experience
- Experience testing and reporting of MTO samples considered an asset
- Experienced with civil construction practices and relevant testing standards and MTO LS Methods
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel
- Familiar with Quality Management Systems
- Strong written, verbal communication and people management skills
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving experience
- Willing to work overtime, if required
