Wood is searching for an offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) with offshore experience in the oil and gas industry.
Work schedule of 14x14 with a work terminal out of Houma, LA.
Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) to supervise and run day to day operations on the helideck during helicopter operations, including updating the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) at regular intervals regarding the status of the helideck, equipment, and services. The HLO shall not take part in any HDA activities, as this would undermine their ability to carry out their primary duties.
The principal responsibilities of the HLO include:
1. Ensuring the cargo manifest is updated. Ensuring correct manifest procedures are used.
2. Overall charge of the helideck and helideck assistants.
3. Conducting pre- and post-operational helideck checks.
4. Ensuring helideck facilities are prepared to receive aircraft upon receipt of arrival notification.
5. Communicating current installation operations that may pose hazards to helicopter operations (flaring, blowdowns, thermal
exhaust, etc).
6. Ensuring that all cranes with the potential of impacting helicopter operation have shutdown, are clear of the helideck and approach
& departure routes, and operators are clear of the cabs throughout the duration of helicopter operations.
7. Maintaining contact with helicopter pilot before landing and informing whether the deck is safe for landing (“Green Deck”).
8. Ensuring that passengers are correctly wearing appropriate clothing and safety equipment required for offshore transport.
9. Ensuring via the Radio Operator that Marine Vessels are clear of the flight path in the proximity of the helideck where practical.
10. Keeping track of POB, bed assignments & updating muster stations.
11. Sump the jet fuel, Dumping jet fuel, strapping jet fuel.
Skills / Qualifications:Required: GED or High School Diploma and 2-4 years related experience.
Preferrred: 5 years HLO experience on an offshore production platform preferred; experience on a deepwater production platform preferred.
