Under the supervision of the department head and/or supervisor, the cook provides personal care and professional excellence by preparing, seasoning and cooking food for hospital patients, employees and visitors.
Job Description
Job Duties:
- Prepares and serves food for midnight cafeteria meal service
- Prepares breakfast for cafeteria and patient breakfast tray line
- Serves breakfast on the patient tray line
- Prepares desserts for cafeteria and patients
- Determines stocking needs for patient floor supplies
- Properly reviews menus to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, starches, and desserts to be prepared.
- Plans proper cooking schedule in conjunction with supervisor to ensure that food will be ready at specified times. Confers with supervisor regarding modified diet preparation and use of left overs.
- Properly washes, trims, cooks and seasoning of food items for each meal.
- Properly observes and practices sanitary and safe infection control standards
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Other duties as assigned
- Prior cooking experience required.
- Previous hospital and institutional cooking experience
- Knowledge of therapeutic (modified) diets
- Servsafe preferred or willing to become certified
