Patient Accounts Representative / Patient Accounts / Full Time Provides personal care and professional excellence by assisting patients in resolving accounts; promoting the hospital's financial/payment policy; and providing support to the Patient Accounts Department.Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Resolves patient/guarantor inquiries received over the telephone and through written correspondence.
- Prepares and maintains accurate account documentation and information related to the status of accounts. This includes complete and accurate input of account notes.
- Receives and reviews pre-registration / registration facesheets for all self pay no insurance inpatient admissions and third-party accounts with significant self pay liability. Assists patients with payment guidelines.
- Receives and reviews the daily outpatient self pay report and establishes payment arrangements with patients/guarantors.
- Distributes departmental mail in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all correspondence is directed to appropriate billing, collection, and managerial personnel.
- Identifies and resolves hospital credit and billing correspondence that has been returned to the patient accounting department for incorrect address information. Resolves all return mail within one week of receipt.
- Accurately and completely submits applications for the Hospital Care Assurance and Uncompensated Care programs. This includes justification of income and obtaining appropriate patient/guarantor signatures. Responsible for monitoring accounts in financial class ""UC"" (pending uncompensated care).
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
