Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging recreational and therapeutic activities for residents in our long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and a strong understanding of aging issues. This role is essential in promoting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our residents through planned activities that enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Assist in managing schedules for daily activities, ensuring all residents have the opportunity to participate.
- Provide care and support to residents during activities, fostering an inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other caregivers to assess individual resident needs and preferences.
- Document participation and feedback from residents to continuously improve activity offerings.
- Facilitate group events, including games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and outings.
- Promote social interaction among residents to enhance community spirit within the facility.
Experience
- Previous experience in caregiving or senior care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with event planning and schedule management is beneficial.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy practices or aging issues counseling is a plus.
- Experience working in assisted living or nursing home environments is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with seniors and their families.
- A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of elderly individuals through meaningful engagement.
